Police in Maryland are responding to a hostage situation at a Burger King fastfood restaurant, AP reports. A SWAT team and negotiators arrived at the scene after a man holding a gun ran into the restaurant.
A seven-year-old girl is among those being held captive by the armed suspect, according to Baltimore police.
"About four" people are being held hostage by the man, police spokesman T.J. Smith said at a news conference.
One adult hostage has reportedly been safely released, but three others including the child remain inside the Burger King, a reporter for WJZ-TV in Baltimore
The gunman is a suspect wanted on a rape charge, Smith said, adding that he fled from police before barricading himself in the restaurant at 1735 Washington Blvd.
