The football match was also to raise awareness for other charities such as the Dirk Nowitzki Foundation and BasKIDball.
The Dirk Nowitzki Foundation supports young people from the Wurzburg region that have disadvantaged backgrounds.

In general the media have never reported on Michael and [wife] Corinna's private lives," Kehm said. "When he was in Switzerland, for example, it was clear he was a private individual.
"Once in a long discussion Michael said to me: 'You don't need to call me for the next year, I'm disappearing.'
"I think it was his secret dream to be able to do that some day. That's why now I still want to protect his wishes in that I don't let anything get out."

Some of the world's top F1 stars gathered in Germany to play in a football match in tribute of racing legend Michael Schumacher.
The 'Champions for Charity' match took place at FSV Mainz's Coface Arena with Sebastian Vettel, Nico Rosberg, Fernando Alonso and Daniel Ricciardo all present.
Felipe Massa, Mika Hakkinen, Nico Hulkenberg, Pascal Wehrlein, Timo Glock, David Coulthard and Christian Vietoris also took part, as well as Mick Schumacher, the seven-time world champion's 17-year-old Italian F4 racing son.
The F1 aces competed against a team of sporting champions, including basketball star Dirk Nowitzki, Lukas Podolski, Sebastian Kehl, Miroslav Klose, Stefan Reinartz, Arne Friedrich and Simon Rolfes.
