Emirates plane crash fire: firefighter's funeral after jet crash-lands in Dubai

An Emirates airline plane crash-landed at Dubai Airport yesterday before bursting into flames.

The jet, carrying 282 passengers and 12 crew members, made an emergency landing at the airport shortly after 1pm local time (10 am UK time).

All of the 300 people on board - including 24 Brits - were safely evacuated from the burning plane. Only 14 were taken to hospital with “cuts and bruises”.

However, hero firefighter, Jasim Issa Mohammed Hassan, tragically died helping to save terrified passengers from the smoke-filled aircraft.

This morning, hundreds of people gathered to pay tribute to the beloved son and brother at Sheikh Rashid Mosque in his hometown of Kharran, Ras al Khaimah.

Yesterday, dramatic video emerged appearing to show the plane exploding on the runway.

Investigators continue to look into the cause of the crash, which is unknown at this stage.
