Henrik Molke pointed his video camera at the iconic Empire State Building and captured the moment it was stuck

Other lightning bolts also struck the Freedom Tower which has been built on the site of the World Trade Center

Moments after the brief lightning storm, an amazing rainbow appeared over the entire Manhattan skyline

Photographer Jennifer Khordi from New Jersey spent hours in the rain to capture the perfect weather image

These are the amazing scenes as lightening struck the Empire State Building in Manhattan.

The footage was captured by journalist Henrik Moltke who pointed his camera towards the iconic structure at the time when the likelihood of a strike was high.

The Empire State Building is struck by lightning about once every two weeks although footage of the strikes is quite rare

A photographer captured stunning video of lightning striking the Empire State Building during a summer storm in New York City on Monday.

Henrik Moltke of The Intercept uploaded a video of the thunderstorm on YouTube and posted pictures on Twitter with the caption “Boom.”

In the video, Moltke focuses his camera on the Empire State Building as lightning strikes the building.
